Russell Wilson leads one-legged, ultimate-minute comeback in mystery over Dolphins

Throwing on 2nd-and-intention doesn’t seem so terrible for the Seattle Seahawks.

The Seahawks reversed the narrative in what nearly was a stunning upset in which their star quarterback suffered a concerning injury. Russell Wilson drove the Seahawks 14 plays and seventy-five yards inside the final four minutes as they scratched out a win over the Miami Dolphins, 12-10. The Dolphins had driven 86 yards over seven plays in just over 3 minutes to take a ten-6 lead. It appeared like a beautiful, disillusioned, survivor-league-crushing bring about making Dolphins head train Adam Gase’s debut.

Wilson, who had suffered ankle damage when Ndamukong Suh (inadvertently) stepped on it earlier in the sport, took over and became restricted in his mobility. But the Seahawks converted two fourth downs on the pressure, along with a 22-backyard throw to Doug 1st earl Baldwin of Bewdley on fourth-and-4 after Suh had batted down the 1/3-down bypass. Wilson later hit Baldwin for a 2-yard touchdown — on an audible, Baldwin said after the game — with 35 seconds left. Ricardo Lockette and Marshawn Lynch are no longer inside the building to this day, so any comparison to the Exquisite Bowl red-quarter meltdown is astray. But it does show that this group goes to do something that needs to be executed to win a game.

In this case, it becomes putting the ball inside Wilson’s palms first. He’s the pleasant participant in his division, one of the excellent gamers in the NFL, and a legitimate MVP candidate this season. Games like this show it. He was hard to shield because of the hazard of scrambling. With the harm taking that far away from Wilson in this sport, offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell nonetheless wanted his quarterback throwing it — just as he did ultimate season. Baldwin is a natural WR1 now. He’s snatch and complex, and his sport belies any obvious bodily limitations he may have. Wilson needed to get him the ball on each the big fourth-down play and the sport-winner. Judging this crew on its Week 1 performance is risky. And the Seahawks need to clean many factors up — and pray that Wilson’s ankle heals. However, if he’s upright, Seattle has a risk to win whenever out.
